Twenty-three student athletes will graduate on Saturday

Among the graduates at commencement exercises for McNeese State on Saturday will be 23 student athletes. This will give the Cowboys and Cowgirls a total of 30 graduates during the 2007-08 school year as seven of them graduated last December and then completed their athletic eligibility this spring.

The Missouri Valley Conference announced its academic awards for the 2007-08 year and Illinois State received more than its fair share of accolades. ISU had 157 student-athletes named to the MVC Honor Roll, including three who received the President's Council Academic Award and 59 who received the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.

Dominican University's Director of Athletics, Erick Baumann, announced on Wednesday that the university is opening a search to fill the position of Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach. The position is a part-time opportunity with coaching responsibilities with both the men's and women's cross country programs at the university. Getting your waking papers usually takes on a negative meaning, but for the Loyola Marymount University Class of 2008, Saturday's "walking papers" was a sweet end to a memorable four years. LMU celebrated the Class of 2008 at its annual Undergraduate Comencement on Saturday in Sunken Garden with 82 student-athletes being honored by the Athletics Department at a breakfast gathering prior to the ceremonies outside of Gersten Pavilion.
